| Jens Hedegaard has been a major force in Scandinavian Pipe Band Drumming for a period of more than 25 years. He began his drumming career with FDF Boy Scouts before turning to pipe band drumming. In 1986 he co-founded Holbæk Pipe Band and later became the Leading Drummer of the Grade 2 Heather Pipes & Drums of Copenhagen. For three years Jens competed with Grade 1 Toronto & District (now Peel Police). With his Drum Corps or Pipe Band he has won most National and Scandinavian titles numerous times and as a soloist he has gathered an impressive 11 Scandinavian solo titles (the latest being 2010) plus competing in the semi finals at the World Solo Drumming Championships. Jens has had the curious experience of – as a soloist or part of a band – in one and the same year holding the title of Danish, Scandinavian, Belgian, Canadian, North American as well as US Champion! Jens is known not only for his technical skills but also for his teaching abilities and musical knowledge which has led to a diversity of feats such as recordings, concerts in Europe, Asia and North America, judging, composing and publishing a book on drumming. | ||
